Surprising draughtsman's or architect's table from the Directory Period in solid mahogany from Cuba in the shape of a kidney. Particulary large, it contains a mechanism allowing the writing slab to be raised and for teh side drawers to be opened containing instruments and brushes. Gilt bronze openwork gallery. Lyre shaped, fluted gilt brass joint between the two legs. Top incrusted with gilt brass along the edges of the drawers and the writing surface.
