Bronze toiletry candlestick. Moulded circular base ornated with trellis motifs, engraved with two fleur-de-lys marchall batons atop saltire. Large waterleaves motif on socket

Circa 1720-1730

Height : 13,5 cm (5-1/4 in.).

Bored hole on socket, slightly deformed base

Charles Louis Auguste Fouquet, Duke of Belle-Isle, Marshall of France (1684-1761). Owner of Bizy Chateau (Eure) which he hired Contant d'Ivry to re-develop, he bequeathed to King Louis XV in 1759.
