Bronze top of pilgrim staff. Very elaborate-shaped pilgrim baton (shakujo) composed of one metallic rope-shaped frame on upper end, topped with stupa and lower part with four thin metallic rings on front which emit jiggling for averting a monk’s path. The pilgrim staff is also distinctive among certain Bodhisattva and Buddhist saints. This type of small size Shakujo is notably called Teshakujo (hand held shakujo).
During Buddhist ceremonies held in a room, the participants shake this instrument and sound liturgical chants.
