He is wearing a crown of thorns in the Flemish style and seated on a tunic strewn across a table surface. His hands and feet are bound by rope.

This scene, untold by the Gospels, only appeared in iconography at the end of 14th Century. The Christ is represented before the crucifixion but after the climbing the Calvary. The tunic in which He is seated upon is the one He was forced to wear for ridicule by Pontius Pilate.
