Dignitary statue. China, Tang Period


Terra-cotta statue of standing dignitary with crossed hands re-glazed with green, brown and yellow enamel known as “Sancai”. The reserved flesh of biscuit. 

China, Tang Period (618-900)

Height: 111 cm (3-1/2 ft.).

 Glaze loss measuring 1 x 2 cm (1/3 x 3/4 in.) on dress’s white part, at 30 cm (11-3/4 in.) under the hands.

Thermoluminescence test confirming the dating was issued on September 30, 2001.
