Painter, sculptor, lithographer, Cubism-Expressionist, he was a professor at the School of Decorative Arts. In 1949, he was appointed official painter for the Navy. Friend of Dufy, he was invited to Venice Biennale in 1952 via Lipchitz and Bourdelle. Between 1950 and 1953, a large retrospective of his work was held in museums in France. In 1942, he received the Blumenthal prize the grand award contemporary painting; in 1955 the International Grand Prize of the Biennale of Menton; in 1958 the grand prize at the Brussels World's Fair. Among choice of his subjects, he realized works in the most figurative expressionist French movement between the two wars, next to GROMAIRE and Walch. (Source Bénézit dictionary of painters).
