Georges Joubin was a student of Laurens at the Julian Academy in 1906. He enrolled in Fine Arts in 1908 with Gabriel Ferrier’s studio. He exhibited at most of the grand Parisian salons after 1928: Autumn, Independents, Tuileries, Luxembourg, National Fine Arts. In 1929, he participated in the creation of the School of Montmartre along with Asselin, de Dignimont, Pascin and Bonnard. Described as vigorous realist in the vein of Marquet, he adhered to the 1930s style where shapes were thoroughly outlined and colors were applied flatly (source Bénézit).
