Mahogany and mahogany-veneered kidney-shaped writing desk. Atop four gained legs and fitted with three drawers along apron. Central drawer with automatic opening activated by hidden press button. Top inset with leather with gilt toolwork Rich gilt bronze ornamentation: hooves, notched plating, waterleaves frieze, lion muzzles, and festooned flower garlands held by ribbon bows.

Very minor veneer losses
Guillaumine GROHE (1808-1885) established in Paris around 1827 and specialized in styled furniture. He supplied works for King Louis-Philippe, Emperor Napoleon III and Empress Eugenie and after 1862 for Queen of England. The Duke of Aumale commissioned him for furnishing the Chantilly Chateau.
