Large hanging (Shwe Chi Doe). Burma, Early 20th Century


Large wool, cotton, velvet and felt hanging (Shwe Chi Doe) with metallic sequins and glass beads. This large hanging represents different court scenes, bordered with peacocks frieze. Composed of different types of fabric ornated with brass roundels, translucent glass beads and red glass cabochons.

Embroidered tapestries (Shwe Chi Doe) were often called kalaga (curtain) in the English language.
