Literary manuscript “Had’aeq Naseri / Naseri Gardens” by Ibn al-Haj Mirza Kazim Muhammad Isaac, “Sadr al-Olana”, dated 1295 H / 1878 and commissioned by Naser al-Din Shah.

Persian text comprising forty chapters concerning the King Naser al-Din Shah, his qualities as king, era, travels (Khorasan, Karbala and Europe), his government (ministers, courtesans, etc). on gilt-speckled paper of thirty-one lines in nasta’liq script on page with black, red and gilt ink, by different hands. Red-inscribed chapter titles inside golden bands. The manuscript presents a sucession of double illuminated pages: the first, under table of contents including chapter index; the second, one full-page double frontispiece composed of polychrome and gilt sarlowh, with blue and golden arcade, flowered scrollwork. Colophon gives completion date 1295 H./1878 and the name of the former owner “Ata Allah Kailrad” who gave this book to M. Amir Hossein Ali Khan Ba’wand in 1335 H.S./1956. The author mentions in his biography’s last chapter that this manuscript was commissioned by Naser al-Din Shah. Listed on end paper are the births, deaths, weddings and religious parties organized by family members of the former owner.
