Parchment scroll, Ethiopia, 19th Century


Protector scroll inscribed in Ge'ez language on domestic animal skin, sheep or cow, and inscribed by a scribe named Dabtarade. Three color-painted scenes representing Virgin Mary and Child surmounted with two angels, Saint George slaying the dragon and one Apostle holding a floating scroll with diverse figures behind.

Ethiopia (Abyssinia), 19th Century.
