Ramakien scene, gouache on canvas. It is a historical scene from the Indian Ramayna and adapted in Thailand under the name Ramakien. It narrates the story of Phra Ram (Prince Rama), seven incarnation of avatar of god Vishnu, helped by the monkey Hanuman, rescuing Naang Sida (Sita), kidnapped by King Thotsakan (Ravana).
The Thai version of Ramayana was written during the 18th Century (Ayutthaya Kingdom), whilte actual version was being compiled under the reign of Rama I (1737-1809), Chakri dynasty.
