Silver tulip beaker. Louis-Joseph Thomas, Paris late 18th century - Early 19th century


Silver tulip beaker on spreading foot with ovolo and interlacing frieze. Lower section chased with bunches of flowers and foliage scrolls alternating with reed sheaves in diamond-shaped cartouches and upper section chased with a festooned frieze of shells and flowers. Threaded rim. Initialled F. BERENGER on foot.

Silversmith : Louis-Joseph THOMAS, registered in 1797-1798.
This master was already working in 1795.

Marks : Revolutionary Jeannette of the Parisian silversmith association 1794-1797, 1st Rooster Paris 1798-1809 (1st standard – 950°/oo- and guarantee).

Weight : 121.7g (3oz 19dwt).

Height : 10.2cm (4in).

Condition report : Minor bump on bottom and foot slightly dented. Repolished. Wears.
