Two Moroccan Berber daggers, 20th Century


- Moroccan dagger (koummya) with scabbard and hanging rope.
Straight bone hilt with silver-plated upper part with chiseled decoration. Silver scabbard bearing decoration engraved with vegetation elements divided in rectangular compartments and flanked by two hanging loops joined by wool rope. Modern blade.

- Moroccan dagger (koummya) with scabbard and hanging rope.
Hilt with silver-plating on facing side and brass on back and terminating with arched “peacock tail” characteristic of the Ait Ouaouizeght tribes in Atlas. The brass scabbard is flanked by two symmetrical loops joined by wool hanging rope. The surface ensemble of hilt and scabbard bear a chiseled and embossed decoration of vegetation scrollwork. The scabbard is ornated with relief lozenge motifs. Modern blade.

One part of one hanging rope is frayed. Few oxidization and rust marks on the loops on the other dagger.
